The demi-pair programme is a good compromise between our au pair placements and language school placements. Take intensive English lessons in a school whilst living immersed in your host family’s way of life, and looking after their children.
Discover our demi-pair programme in England, in the city of Manchester. You can take up to 15 hours of English lessons per week in our partnering school in Manchester and live with a carefully chosen host family.
Manchester
Manchester was the first English city to be industrialised. Its history makes it unique: a mix of old and new, Manchester is one of the most coolest cities in Europe. Everyone finds their niche there thanks to the endless possiblities which the city has to offer: cultural trips, artistic discoveries, shopping, nightlife…
The Language School
The language school is located in the centre of Manchester. You will study in a modern school in a city known for the quality of its higher education. Each student will benefit from a personal linguistic study plan which is adapted to help them to acheive their academic and professional objectives.
The Course
The “General English Language Course” consists of 15 hours of lessons per week which take place in the morning to fit in with the host families’ work schedules.
The class size is small which enables the qualified teachers to work with every student individually. The teaching methods are adapted to each pupil which encourages the fast development of your English.
No allowance is given.
PLEASE NOTE: Before completing the enrolment process, in order to check that you meet the admission requirements for the programme, your level of English will be evaluated by our partner during an individual Skype interview followed by an online English test. Consequently, you will be put into a class which suits your level when you arrive at the school. Your progress will be regularly checked and your level of English re-evaluated for better personalised support.
Throughout your demi-pair placement in England, your role will be to look after the children in your host family and to do light household chores for up to 4/5 hours a day (usually after your lessons)to help your family in day to day life.
You will usually be free on Saturdays and Sundays, although your host family might ask you to baby-sit from time to time.
Above all this programme is a cultural exchange which requires open-mindedness. You must be responsible as well as flexible to be able to adjust to your host family’s way of life.
This programme is not open to male au pairs.
To keep in mind for your budget: flights (about €150), health/hospitalisation/repatrition insurance (about €25 per month).
