VOLUNTEERING- SOUTH AFRICA
Through the AFJ international volunteering programme, we offer you:

The Volunteer in South Africa Programme
- Volunteer for 2 weeks to 6 months depending on which project you choose
- Starting dates all year round
- A great selection of projects depending on your personality and your experience
- Your role : a personal and financal participation (included in the programme fees) in the humanitarian and environmental projects.
- Work 5 days per week, for about 8 hours a day
- Take advantage of your free time to visit and discover the city and surrounding areas
- Meet other volunteers and make friends from all over the world
- On certain projects, it is possible to take English lessons in the mornings
- Everything taken care of as soon as you arrive in South Africa: airport transfers, accomodation, training…
- Free accomodation with a host family, in a residence or in volunteer accomodation at the project site. Meals will be provided (half-board or full board). For some projects, you will share a room with the other volunteers
- Several destinations in South Africa are available, most notably Cape Town
Humanitarian project in South Africa
Like being around people? Take part in a humanitarian project.
What?: Dedicate your time and energy to people in need. We offer various projects where you will be in contact with children or the elderly every day: in hospitals, schools or orphanages.
Help the elderly, teach children to read or play with them in exchange for their love and affection.
Where?: Our charity projects are mainly based in Cape Town.
Advantages: You will be part of a close-knit team et will be involved in managing and developing the project every day.
Environmental preservation project
Do you love nature and animals? Take part in an environmental project.
What?: You will discover South Africa’s wild animals whilst being in contact with them every day. The missions vary for each project: work alongside the on-site veterinarians, take part in tourist excursions, animal observation and help with animal conservation and rehabilitation in their natural habitat…
You can also participate in farm projects. For example you can help and participate in the development de sustainable plantations etc.
Where? : The majority of our conservation programmes are situated in the remote regions of South Africa, far away from the big cities. There are only a few projects based in Cape Town.
Advantages: You will discover the unparalleled landscapes and animals of South Africa whilst helping to protect the environment.
Conditions for being a volunteer in South Africa
- You must be enthusiastic and willing!
- You must be over 18 years old.
- You must be available for at least 2 weeks.
- You must have an intermediate level of English (level B2). Contact us if you think you have a lower level.
- You must have a clear criminal record.
Volunteer in South Africa programme fees
- Registration fee: €150
PLEASE NOTE: the payment is made once our partner has approved your application - Placement fee: €300
PLEASE NOTE: the placement fee is paid once your volunteering placement has been confirmed - Programme fee: the amount varies depending on the length of your volunteering placement and on the type of project that you choose
